Privacy Policy

Overview
Jira to NotebookLM Connector ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that syncs Jira issues to Google Docs for use with Google's NotebookLM. This privacy policy describes what information the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Data Collection
The Extension collects and processes the following data:
- Jira Issue Data: When you use the Extension on a Jira issue page, it extracts the issue key, title, description, comments, story points, and child ticket information. This data is extracted directly from your browser's view of the Jira page.
- Google Account Information: The Extension uses Google OAuth to access Google Docs and Google Drive. It requests access only to documents you explicitly create or select through the Extension (see "Google API Usage" below) — not your Drive as a whole.
Data Storage
- Local Storage: The Extension stores your document links, sync history, and settings locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your browser.
- Authentication Tokens: Google OAuth tokens are stored locally in your browser.
- No Extension-Operated Servers: The Extension itself runs no backend server and stores no user data outside your browser. It does load one small, static, non-executing helper page (see "Google Drive Folder/Document Picker" below) that is required by a Google browser-extension security policy — that page does not receive, store, or process your Jira or Google data; it only relays a single file/folder selection back to the Extension.
Data Sharing
The Extension does not:
- Sell any user data
- Share data with third parties
- Use analytics or tracking services
- Send data to any server other than Google's APIs
Google API Usage
The Extension uses the Google Docs API and Google Drive API (restricted to the non-sensitive drive.file scope) solely to create, read, and update Google Docs that you explicitly authorize — either by creating a new document through the Extension or by selecting an existing one through Google's own file picker. The Extension cannot see, list, or search any other file in your Google Drive. The Extension's use of Google APIs complies with Google's API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Drive Folder/Document Picker
To let you choose a Drive folder or an existing document, the Extension opens Google's own file-picker widget in a new browser tab, hosted at https://acme.zone/jira-notebooklm/picker.html. This page is required because Chrome's extension platform does not allow extensions to load Google's picker UI directly inside the extension popup. The page:
- Loads Google's Picker interface directly from Google (
apis.google.com) inside that browser tab.
- Receives a short-lived Google access token from the Extension so the picker can display your Drive folders/documents, exactly as if the picker were shown inside the Extension itself.
- Sends only your final selection (a file or folder ID and name) back to the Extension, and nothing else.
- Does not itself store, log, or transmit your data anywhere; it is a static page with no backend of its own.
Data Retention
Document link data is stored locally until you unlink an issue or uninstall the Extension. You can clear all stored data at any time through the Extension's settings page or by removing the Extension from Chrome.
Third-Party Services
The Extension interacts with the following services:
- Google Docs API — for syncing content to your documents
- Google Drive API (
drive.file scope) — for creating documents and moving them into a folder you choose
- Google Picker API — the folder/document chooser described above
- Jira (Atlassian) — via your browser's rendered page (no API calls to Atlassian)
Security
The Extension uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 for Google authentication. All API calls are made over HTTPS. No plain-text data is transmitted without encryption.
